Classic.

You guys never answered the question though. Can you throw on a pair of jeans and then a skirt for a night out?

I think it just means his name is Jake, regardless of what he thinks it means. What a dweeb.

My advice to women trying to meet a guy (or vice-versa or same-sex or whatever)for dating: Don't restrict yourself to online methods. Join a club or go to a house of worship or something. At least then you are starting from a better common place or interest other than both being able to use a computer. I think by doing things together in an informal setting you also get to build some trust and knowledge of each other. That allows you to not have to balk on giving out your real name.

I recommend meeting folks in person so that most of the lying can be done face-to-face or else cannot be done at all. You can't lie about appearance in person. I can tell anyone I look like Charles Atlas but if you se me in person it's more like Charles Atlas after a number of years of heavy drinking. And without the obvious brawn.

I think you can get a better feeling about someone in person as well. You can tell people's annoying traits, etc. much easier. Can you sustain dating someone who smacks his lips when he eats or else feels compelled to not step on cracks in the sidewalk? You can't see this stuff online. You can only see what people choose to show you and that's rarely a good picture of what you are getting into.

Just one guy's opinion. On the other hand, I haven't dated since long before Internet dating began, so what do I know? I am just glad to not have to worry about all that stuff anymore.

yeah ok, here's a couple...

"i've never done this before" RIGHT.

including your email adress IN an email?? redundant. wtf??

"I wish I was older so I could reply".. why the hell reply then??

"I'm bored at work and have nothing else to do" ..and you really know how to make a girl feel special...

"Like most guys looking for a girl, I always just skip the no picture ones, and go straight to the picture before reading. In your case though..." is that really supposed to make me think your awesome?

"your cure for boredom". let ME decide that!!

holy shit guys, what am i missing here?? hah!

No, I get it. Lots of guys out there misrepresent themselves. Not only that, they are arrogant in their assertions ("you should find out what that means" - what a jerk). I was just going off on something tangential - a structure that allows people to easily do this type of thing.

I feel bad for anyone who encounters folks like the "jeans and a skirt" guy. Some of these people are amazing in what they come up with.

HA! I'm totally with y'all on this one. I may be way behind in adding a comment to this post, and perhaps no one will see it because they've all moved on to newer things... but anyway.
Jeans *and* a skirt. I think I've actually seen that before...
